What is hypnotherapy? – Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to effect positive changes in your behaviour, way of thinking, health & general well being.
What is hypnosis? – hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation similar to meditation except the subconscious mind is very alert. When a person is under hypnosis, their conscious mind relaxes and is by-passed, their subconscious mind can then be accessed.
The conscious mind is critical and analytical and sorts information by noticing differences, where-as the subconscious mind readily accepts suggestions and acts upon them.
The subconscious mind contains all of your memories, belief systems, childhood and life conditionings. It also regulates body maintenance, and autonomic processes like breathing, blood circulation and tissue regeneration. It is the seat of your emotions and directs nearly all of your behaviour.
By using hypnotherapy to access the subconscious mind we are able to change unwanted behaviours, reprogram old beliefs & change negative thinking to positive thinking.
Will I be in control? – One of the most common misconceptions is that people fear that they will be out of control when they are under hypnosis, but in fact the client is in control at all times and can come out of hypnosis at any time should they choose to. The hypnotherapist merely guides the client to where they want to be, so that they can live life to their full potential.
Is it safe? – Hypnosis is 100% safe – you are aware, in control and can terminate the session at any time should you choose to.
Hypnosis is used all over the world in medical health practices such as dentistry, childbirth, surgery and pain management, to name but a few.
What does it feel like to be under hypnosis? – When a person is under hypnosis, it feels like wonderfully deep relaxation, except that the subconscious mind is very alert. The person may feel heavy or light, as though they were floating etc. Whatever the sensations experienced by the person they are always wonderfully relaxing and therapeutic.
Will I be able to go into hypnosis? – Hypnosis is a very natural state that everybody goes into at least twice a day. On waking, and going off to sleep we go through the alpha state, which is the state of hypnosis. All a client needs to do to enter hypnosis is to allow themselves to relax and follow the hypnotherapists instructions.
